From Corny to Cornell

Well, since this is my first post in over two years, I guess I deserve my fans an explanation. I thought bloggers were for sucks, and I don't consider myself a suck. So there you go, and now I have changed my mind.

On to other changes. I am at Cornell as a self-proclaimed visiting scholar and all-around genious. Since August I have been working with my woman Monica Gonzalez-Marquez and Michael Spivey. We have been working on event structure, time perception, bilingualism, gender, and spatial cognition. To be honest, there has been so so many ideas and so little to show for it on my part. We do have a new chapter coming out though concerning empirical methods in cognitive linguistics, and Monica's got some data. There will be more to come, but it is just slow going. Must be the gravity around here.

As far as I know at this point in the graduate admission front, I am not going to be admitted to a Ph.D. program this year. However, Teenie Matlock at the new UC school at Merced has been courting me for her program as a terminal Masters degree candidate. So it looks like Monica and I will be moving to Merced, CA around mid-July after we spend most of the Summer in northern Wisconsin at the cabin.

I think that this brief summary is a good way to get a few of you caught up, and I will be posting more soon, including some pictures of recent adventures. Until then, much love to those that survive.
